Powerful traditional 3D performance and radio-switchable reverse thrust in one versatile, matched 2S or 3S power system.
The Vertex VS28-17R combines our VS28-05C 1950KV outrunner motor with the matched Vertex 17A reversible ESC. Designed for approximately 22 to 37-inch EPP aircraft, it supports traditional forward-only 3D flight and transmitter-controlled reverse thrust for advanced 4D maneuvers. Use 2S for smooth, lightweight performance or step up to 3S for stronger outdoor power, faster pullout and more aggressive 3D and 4D flying.
The motor and ESC arrive with compatible 2 mm connectors already installed. Hardware for both standard 3D and reversible 4D propeller setups is included.

The grey APC 4D propellers provide faster directional changes, while the black SFR propellers provide increased thrust with slightly slower reverse spool-up.
Do not use a 9-inch 4D propeller on 3S with the included 1950KV motor.
Complete throttle calibration before attempting to arm or operate the motor for the first time. Always remove the propeller during throttle calibration, programming or motor-direction testing.
Important Operating Information
- This ESC does not provide low-voltage cutoff protection. Use a flight timer and monitor battery voltage to prevent excessive LiPo discharge.
- Confirm that the receiver and servos are compatible with the 6V BEC output.
- Install the ESC where it receives adequate cooling airflow.
- Check motor and ESC temperatures after the first flights.
- Inspect the motor mount, hardware and propeller attachment regularly.
The ESC arrives factory programmed for its intended traditional 3D and reversible 4D operation. Custom firmware, third-party software and unsupported setting changes may affect performance or reliability and are not supported by Twisted Hobbys.

Vertex Rocks
My first attempt at 4D was the TH 33" Edge 580 Pro SL with a T Motor power system. It was pretty frustrating, I wasn't happy with the way it flew in any wind, it broke in flight a few times, and the motor finally smoked out. I decided to try again with this Vertex power system and a TH 32" MXS-C. I'm gad I did. Great system and a tough bird are making for a ton of fun! The Vertex is performing smoothly and reliably, mostly outdoors.
